Q’ero Misa Bag – Handwoven Ritual Carrier from Peru
This handwoven Q’ero misa bag is a traditional ritual carrier from the Peruvian Andes. It is ideal for keeping and carrying personal misa items, small ritual objects, sacred herbs, coca leaves or spiritual companions.
The bag is made of 90% sheep wool and 10% pure alpaca wool. The fibres are coloured with natural dyes and woven in traditional Andean patterns. The strong red colouring, the fringes and the woven symbols reflect the spiritual and cultural aesthetics of the Andes.
Thanks to the sturdy shoulder strap, the bag can be worn comfortably over the shoulder or across the body. This makes it not only a special companion for rituals and ceremonies but also an expressive handmade accessory with deep cultural meaning.
Traditionally, such bags were used by paqos and spiritual guides to keep sacred objects such as ritual stones, herbs, tobacco or other ceremonial items before and after ritual work.
As every bag is woven entirely by hand, each piece takes several weeks to make and becomes a unique work of Andean textile tradition. Small differences in shape, pattern, colour or size are part of the handcraft and make every bag one of a kind.
